Collaborating Artists Jane Ingram Allen and Jami Taback will present the 6th exhibition of their “In Deep Water” project at Delaware Valley Arts Alliance Gallery, Narrowsburg, NY, June 28 – August 3, 2025.

Jane Ingram Allen and Jami Taback began this work together in 2020 to express their concern about the growing environmental crisis relating to climate change and water, the most essential element for life. “In Deep Water” has been presented at 3 different venues in Northern California and one in New Jersey and also in Taiwan, with new versions and more panels added at each place to make it site specific  The “In Deep Water – Confluence” art installation will consist of 27 panels of handmade paper and printmaking with controlled burning that are joined by threads and suspended in space to surround the viewer in a blue watery world where rivers come together, symbolically representing the hope that the world can all come together to preserve the environment and deal with climate change.  The presentation in Narrowsburg, NY, will be designed for the DVAA gallery located in the downtown area along the banks of the Delaware River, and the exhibition is happening at the same time as the community’s annual Riverfest celebration of the Delaware River.

The exhibition of “In Deep Water – We’re in This Together” at Live Forever Foundation Gallery in Taichung, Taiwan, opened on Saturday Dec. 2 and will continue on display till March 2, 2024. The work is part of “Water Says” curated by Iris Hong and includes the installation by Jane Ingram Allen and Jami Taback about water and climate change and works also about water from two Taiwanese contemporary artists. The opening reception offered a great chance for Jane and her husband Tim to meet many old friends again and for Jami and her husband Steve to experience Taiwan for the first time. Jane and Jami also conducted a one-day workshop on Sunday Dec. 3 at the Foundation to present their techniques in papermaking and printmaking used in this installation. The installation titled “In Deep Water – We’re in This Together” opens Dec. 2, 2023 at Live Forever Foundation Gallery, Taichung, Taiwan. https://www.live-forever.com.tw/foundation-news-content.php?page=1&index_id=75 The installation of handmade paper and printmaking by Santa Rosa, California, artists Jane Ingram Allen and Jami Taback, consists of 36 panels presented as a site-specific installation in the magnificent gallery space at Live Forever Foundation Gallery and aims to initiate some international dialogue about our global climate crisis and its effects on the water situation in countries around the world. Taiwan and California have different problems with water, too little most of the time in California and too much sometimes in Taiwan. Everywhere we are experiencing rising waters and temperatures, increased I’ve severity of storms and other effects of climate change. The installation is part of the exhibition “Water Says” curated by Taiwanese curator Iris Hung. Jane and Jami and their husbands are in Taiwan for 10 days to do the site-specific installation and attend the opening reception, present public programs and a hands-on workshop in papermaking and printmaking related to the environment and water. Thanks to the Live Forever Foundation for their support and enthusiasm for environmental art and how it can contribute to raising public awareness around the world about our current global environmental crisis. Here are a few photos of our “In Deep Water” installation in Taiwan. The Foundation also engaged a Taiwanese modern dancer to create a performance with our installation!

“In Deep Water – Rising” an installation about water and climate change utilizing hand papermaking and printmaking by artists Jane Ingram Allen and Jami Taback opens Saturday, Oct. 8, 3-5pm, at Gallery Route One, Point Reyes Station, CA. There will be Artists Talks in the gallery at 3pm. The exhibition remains on view at Gallery Route One’s Project Space through Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022. There will also be closing remarks by the artists at 4pm on Sunday, Nov. 13. Gallery Route One is open 11am to 5pm, Thursday through Monday.

The exhibition of a collaborative art project titled “In Deep Water” by artists Jane Ingram Allen and Jami Taback opens on Saturday, January 15, at Sonoma Community Center Gallery, Sonoma, CA.  The project is focused on the current climate crisis and water and makes use of Jane’s handmade paper skills and Jami’s printmaking expertise to create a multi-media multi-part large-scale installation combining printmaking and hand papermaking.  The work will be installed from Jan 15 to Jan. 31 at the Sonoma Community Center Gallery, Sonoma, CA. This exhibition of “In Deep Water” is supported in part by an Emergency Grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. The project will expand and continue in 2022 and 2023 with exhibitions at other venues.

There will also be a Demonstration of papermaking and printmaking on Sunday, January 23, at 2 pm in the Sonoma Community Center Print Studio. Come see how the processes the artists used to make this collaborative art project using a variety of hand papermaking and printmaking techniques.

Hope you can come to the opening of this group exhibition in Woodland, CA, where I will have two installations featured:
One is an indoor site specific installation of my “California Delta Rivers” first created in 2013 and re-configured to make a wall drawing installation for this exhibition focused on the water resources in northern CA. The work is made with handmade paper and cotton threads and pulp is dyed with fiber reactive dyes. Here is a photo of California Delta Rivers as installed at the Barn Gallery in Woodland.



I also have an outdoor installation in this exhibition. My “Flower Power” installation consists of many handmade paper “guns” with seeds for wildflowers in the pulp that will transform the “guns” over time into living blooming wildflowers. This installation is place in a prepared raised bed just outside the Barn Gallery, and focuses on using nature as a partner and the regenerative power of nature. The handmade paper will dissolve as mulch to nourish the earth and the seeds sprout and grow into blooming wildflowers. Here is a photo of “Flower Power” when it was first installed outside the Barn Gallery in Woodland.



My works are part of the group exhibition Women Eco Artists Dialog: The Legacy of Jo Hanson, at Yolo Arts, the Barn Gallery 512 Gibson Rd., Woodland, CA. Revisiting my Artwork “Falling Water” installed at Gaslight Brasserie, Boston, MA

During my visit to Boston this year for my residency at Boston Harbor Islands National Park, I had a chance to go by and see my artwork “Falling Water” installed at Gaslight Brasserie, 560 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA (http://www.gaslight560.com). This restaurant is open for dinner 5-11PM every day and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays 11AM – 3 PM. Café Green Light, also in the same building is open for lunch only . My artwork is installed on one of the really tall walls inside where the Café’ Green Light is located, but you can also be see my artwork from the dinner dining area of the Gaslight restaurant.

“Falling Water” was created in 2007-08 during my artist in residency at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei, Taiwan, and exhibited in my solo exhibition “Water Works” at Boston Sculptors Gallery, 486 Harrison Avenue, Boston, in July 2009. The artwork was purchased by the restaurant and building owners from that show for installation at the Gaslight restaurant space. It was wonderful to see what a great job they did moving the artwork from the Boston Sculptors Gallery where it was suspended from the ceiling to create this great wall installation at Gaslight. “Falling Water” was also exhibited in New York City at Tenri Gallery and at Mass Audubon Visual Arts Center, Canton, MA.
